Sou'Wester Wind Fields, Inc is a community-based company, overseen by a volunteer board of directors focused on wind and renewable energy development on Nova Scotia and on the South Shore.

The company was formed in 2004 through the unique, Nova Scotia community development investment fund programme (CEDIF), and has raised more than $325,000 from fifty investors since its inception. We have made "green" investments in Nova Scotia-based Renewable Energy Services Ltd. (RESL) and Fourth Generation Capital Corporation.

We are part of a network of community-owned renewable energy companies formed under the CEDIF initiative. These include The Bay Wind Field (Digby, Yarmouth and Annapolis), The Glooscap Wind Field (Kings, Hants East & West), Northumberland Wind Field (Pictou and Antigonish), Colchester-Cumberland Wind Field and Chebucto Wind Field (Halifax Regional Municipality).

In addition to researching and pursuing wind development opportunities in the region since 2004, Sou'Wester Wind Field Inc has sponsored a series of meetings with citizens and officials in communities on the South Shore. We have discussed in brief the benefits of community ownership of the natural resources and of the various partnerships with municipal units that could be effective in the responsible development of wind energy in Nova Scotia.
