Can Renewable Energy Power Your Home or Small Business?

Discover how renewable energy might help your business by using our quick self-assessment quiz. Then contact us to find out how we can work together to find the best energy solution for your situation.

Self Assessment Tools

1) The first step in assessing the potential for onsite renewable energy is figuring out how much energy you currently use. This will serve as the baseline for any improvements, and allow for proper sizing of the equipment we will use.

To quickly assess your energy usage, check your electricity, oil or any other energy bill that you have (Natural Gas, Propane etc). Tip: Nova Power often provides usage information from the past year on all of their bills, and offer online assessment tools as well.

2) The second step is getting a basic idea of your renewable resources. For wind, the Department of Energy has produced a wind atlas to help with this process at nswindatlas.ca. Find your location, and read the wind speed at the appropriate height.

3) The last step is assessing your surroundings , and how they might affect onsite renewable energy production. To do this, you can ask yourself these questions about your property:

a. Urban or Rural?
b. How large is your property (acres)?
c. Are you on a hill, or in a valley?
d. How close are you to water?
e. Are there any trees or buildings in the area? If so, how tall are they?

With this information, contact us and we can make an intelligent assessment of what renewable energy options will work for you.
