Community Economic Development Investment Fund

Community Economic Development Investment Fund

The Community Economic Development Investment Fund (CEDIF) is an initiative of the Nova Scotia Department of Economic Development. The program was created to encourage investment into Nova Scotian owned businesses and enterprises. Investment into authorized enterprises qualifies for the Federal RRSP (Registered Retirement Savings Program) and up to 3 provincial Equity Tax Credit (ETC) installments. To receive each installment, investors must hold their investment for 3 five year blocks. The first ETC in year 1 is worth 35%, the second in year 6 is worth 20%, the third in year 11 is worth 10%. Eligibility is dependant on conditions which apply to all ETCs.

Six of the Community Wind Fields (The Bay, Chebucto, Colchester-Cumberland, Glooscap, Northumberland, and Sou'Wester) are fully qualified Community Economic Development Corporations certified under the government program to offer the relevant tax advantages to investors.
