The Community Wind Field Story

In January 2007, Scotian WindFields Inc was formed by agreement among the community-owned WindFields formed under the CEDIF initiative (The Community Economic Development Investment Fund program of the Department of Economic Development).

The main purpose of Scotian WindFields Inc is to develop investment opportunities in renewable energy for funds raised through the community Wind Fields.

The benefits of renewable resources are increased considerably when the resources are owned locally. The Scotian WindFields family of community economic development corporations was created in 1999 to enable Nova Scotians to take advantage of this fact. The corporations are managed by local, volunteer directors to meet the stringent community economic development mandate of the CEDIF program.

From time to time, these Wind Fields will raise investment funds through public share offerings. Please check out our Investment section or each WindField's page for more information about investing in a local wind field or to find out how you can participate by serving on your local Board of Directors.

There are six active community WindFields formed under the CEDIF initiative.
The Bay Wind Field (Digby, Yarmouth and Annapolis)
The Glooscap Wind Field (Kings, Hants East & West)
Northumberland Wind Field (Pictou and Antigonish)
Colchester-Cumberland Wind Field
Sou’Wester Wind Field (Queens, Shelburne, Lunenburg)
Chebucto Wind Field (Halifax Regional Municipality)

There are two WindFields preparing their first share offerings
