Fossil Fuels
Assessments of the cost of energy today incorporate the “full cost accounting” method that has become standard for many governments, international agencies, and corporations throughout the world. This costing method has been adopted by such mainstream organizations as the United States government’s Environmental Protection Agency and Ontario Hydro.
No matter how you evaluate your energy options, fossil fuels are the least attractive fuel source available today.
Fossil fuels present a challenge to a long-term energy strategy for several reasons:
- price volatility
- insecurity of supply
- environmental and health costs in extraction and generation
- carbon costs and carbon liability
