Utility
Utility scale wind energy development is grid-connected energy that is sold directly to the "utility". In Nova Scotia, the utility is Nova Scotia Power Inc (NSPI).
The current process for selling large scale renewable energy (over 2MW) to the grid involves submitting bids for a Power Purchase Agreement to NSPI through their Request for Proposal Process.
Scotian WindField Inc with their partner SkyPower have signed a Power Purchase Agreement with NSPI to develop a 30MW wind farm near Digby, Nova Scotia.
