Awards bring Scotian Wind Inc COMFIT project total to almost 15MW

Monday, April 16, 2012

Dartmouth, NS – April 16th, 2012.  Scotian Wind Inc announced today that it has been awarded three more certificates under the Nova Scotia Community Feed-In Tariff (COMFIT) Program.   These projects, along with the Wedgeport Community Wind Turbine Project announced in February, bring the total COMFIT projects awarded to Scotian to almost 15MW.

The Nova Scotia Department of Energy announced these projects along with other COMFIT awards at an event in Guysborough today.

The Scotian Wind Inc projects announced today are:

  • Martock Ridge – Hants County, 6MW
  • Nine Mile River – Hants County, 5MW
  • Bucklaw – Victoria County, 1.99MW

Scotian Wind Inc was established as a COMFIT eligible affiliate of Scotian WindFields Inc.  More than 1000 Nova Scotian families which have invested in the affiliated local WindField CEDIF organizations will benefit from these projects.  The two Scotian companies will be developing these projects in partnership with WEB North America, a community-based developer founded in Austria.  WEB has substantial experience in developing, financing, and operating small scale community renewable energy projects.

Today’s COMFIT awards indicate that these projects have met the initial criteria of the Department of Energy and acknowledge Scotian Wind’s commitment to ensure that their projects are developed to a high standard with respect to environment, community support, and local ownership.

Project information will be updated on the Scotian website in the coming weeks, and community meetings will be scheduled for May and June.
