Wind

Scotian WindFields Inc is in the business of providing energy solutions to homes, businesses, and communities. We work closely with clients to identify their energy needs and develop solutions that are sustainable and cost effective.

We are dedicated to providing scaleable renewable energy solutions that meet the needs of all energy consumers from utility installations to small scale systems.

Utility

Utility scale wind energy development is grid-connected energy that is sold directly to the "utility". In Nova Scotia, the utility is Nova Scotia Power Inc (NSPI).

The current process for selling large scale renewable energy (over 2MW)  to the grid involves submitting bids for a Power Purchase Agreement to NSPI through their Request for Proposal Process.

Embedded Generation

Embedded generation is known by many names (on-site generation, inside-the-fence, net-metering), but whatever you call it, it's a solution that more and more businesses and institutions are adopting to solve their rising energy costs.

Embedded generation simply means the installation of renewable energy on site. The renewable energy generated then displaces the need for costly grid-generated energy that largely depends on fossil fuel combustion.

Scotian WindFields works with businesses and institutions to assess their energy needs and determine their on site resources. Then we tailor a cost-effective solution that best fits the client's needs and uses the on site resources most effectively.

Embedded generation benefits everyone. The community enjoys a stronger grid with distributed generation and a healthier environment with decreased dependence on fossil fuel combustion.

Small Wind

Small wind refers to individual turbines that provide energy to residential or small business applications. Small wind turbines can be grid-connected to offset residential energy rates or they can be used off-grid to provide energy solutions where the grid is not available.

Small wind turbines can range in size from just a few watts, up to 300 kW.  They are used in homes, cottages, farms and small businesses, as well as specialty applications like weather stations and boats. Small wind is often coupled with solar to provide the most efficient use of on site resources.

Scotian WindFields puts its expertise in large wind farms to work on all sizes of projects. We work closely with you to find the best size and site for your generator.
